10 Reasons Why It’s Time to Move Business Premises
If you’ve found your way onto this blog then you’re probably thinking about moving offices, are considering when is the best time to move and how to find the best commercial removals companies (we can help with that – just click here).
But do you need a little reassurance that you’re making the right decision for your business?
Here are 10 reasons why it may be time to pack up and move premises:
1.You Don’t Have the Facilities
When you first moved into your current business premises everything was great and the company had everything you could ever dream of. But now, years down the line, your business has grown and so has your workforce, so your fantasy office could seem more like a nightmare.
One of the most common reasons why businesses move office space is because of the lack of facilities. Perhaps there aren’t enough parking spaces for your staff, let alone client visitors too, and let’s not even get started on the number of extension cables you have, to combat the issue of not enough power points.
If your office facilities aren’t up to scratch, it may be time to move.
2. You Can’t Fit Any More Desks In
Is your lack of space holding your company back? If a company has grown exponentially, then free workspace can become an issue – and quickly!
In many cases, businesses simply can’t take on more business because their small company space is restricting the number of people they can employ to do the work. So, staying put and not moving, could, in some cases, lose you work and money.
3. Clients Can’t Find Your Office
Despite having your address on your website and being able to find your premises on Google Maps, do your clients and customers repeatedly complain that you were hard to find? Perhaps visitors are late to meetings or you get phone calls because they’re lost and need guidance? A better (and easier to find) location can solve this.
4. Your Premises Needs a Lot of TLC
The older a building gets, the more care and attention it needs. When things start breaking, some businesses decide to move and upgrade, rather than deal with fixing the issues. This may be a way of making the wear and tear someone else’s problem, but be aware that doing this could see a serious cut in the sale value of the property
5. To Free Up Equity
Put in simple terms, do you need more cash? Then it may be a good idea to sell up and release the equity in your commercial property. This money can then be used to rent or buy a cheaper business premises, with the leftover funds used as a much needed cash injection.
6. You Need to Consolidate Your Offices
Sadly, not all moves are for positive reasons. If your business has fallen upon hard times, it may make business sense to downsize or move to a similar sized property in a less desirable location, in order to save money. Shutting multiple offices and housing all staff and services in one premises may be the only option for survival.
7. You’re in the Middle of Nowhere
The only thing worse than customers not being able to find you, is them knowing where you are but still not visiting despite requiring your services. If you are located in the middle of nowhere, miles and miles from your target customer, it is unlikely they will make the effort to travel to you.
Instead they will opt for maybe a more expensive, yet nearer company or even go online! So, move to a better location and bring your product or services to the people who need them. We’re sure it will improve your sales figures.
8. You Keep Getting Broken Into
Safety is a key concern for any property owner. After all, your premises and its contents are your main assets. So, if you keep getting broken into or vandalism is rife in the area, it may be time to give us a call and sort out a commercial removals firm quote.
9. The Lease is Up
If your tenancy is coming to an end soon, this makes the perfect time to make the decision whether you should move or not. Look to the future and think about whether your current premises is likely to suit you a year down the line. If the answer is ‘no’, then what are you waiting for?
10. You Need a Fresh Start!
Last but not least, is the need for a new beginning. If there have been a lot of changes recently, good or bad, a new business premises may be the way to start fresh on a positive note.
But at the end of the day, do you really need an excuse to move, other than you want to? So, when is the best time to move out? – whenever you like!
