Compare My Move is the brainchild of removal men come company directors Marc Benger and Dave Sayce who founded the company in 2012. The idea was to develop a model that would provide great quality removal leads to the best and the most trusted removal companies in the country, looking after the interests of those in the industry and the hundreds of thousands of UK home movers.
The business works by offering a free online platform where consumers can compare quotes from fully vetted and accredited regional and national removal companies. Removal companies sign up as members and pay for the leads they receive. Over 200 removal companies have signed up to date and this figure is expected to rise again rapidly as the now, well-established company continues to grow.
Marc Benger and Dave Sayce knew they were on to something as they began to develop the idea for a removal cost comparison site back in 2012. They discovered a significant gap in the market for a lead generation service that would go the extra mile and offer a personal, as well as a professional approach. With an impressive accumulation of experience running both removals and storage companies, Marc and Dave were well placed to truly consider what home movers needed from a removal company and what removal companies needed from lead generators.
Marc Benger brought with him 10 years of expertise in the home removals and storage industries. After successfully running a storage facility and heading up a removals firm, Marc teamed up with Dave to pursue the idea of a lead generation service that would meet the needs of fellow removal firms and the customer.

Dave Sayce worked in the home removals industry for several years and notably ran his own removal company in Wales before founding Compare My Move. Teaming up with Marc to develop the comparison product, Dave set out to tailor the service to meet the needs of the companies in the industry he knew so well. 2012 - Compare My Move has gone from strength to strength since it first began. The business began in 2012 and started trading in 2013. While the company was still in its infancy, it was grabbing the attention of prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs alike.
2013 - Business tycoon and star of TV's ‘Dragon's Den' Theo Paphitis gave a nod to Compare My Move when he recognised their accomplishments and potential in 2013 with his Small Business Sunday Award.
2014 – Company founders and Directors Marc and Dave listened to their removal partner's feedback and introduced new member features to the service, including the option to limit leads to control budget, filter leads by property size and the introduction of credit and ‘pay as you go' accounts.
2014 also saw the company bag its second award as Marc and Dave proudly received ‘Best New Business' at the Cardiff Life Awards.
2015 – A big year for Compare My Move. The rapid growth and unrivalled success meant that the company was able to effectively double the workforce as Marc and Dave recruited a Web Developer and a Digital Marketing Manager. The new team set up shop in the illustrious city centre with a stylish office on the bustling hotspot of Cathedral Road.
2015 also saw Compare My Move receiving yet another award nomination as it was shortlisted for a gong at the Cardiff Business Awards.
2015-2016 – The Compare My Move story continued and the team grew as a sales manager was appointed to help maintain relationships with the quickly growing partner network. As well as the newly formed sales department, the digital and development teams grew to include content writers, digital marketing executives and a front-end developer.
2017 – In 2017, Compare My Move have teamed up with fellow businesses to launch their affiliate program. With a growing pool of affiliates joining the scheme, Compare My Move continue to take the industry by storm. The busy headquarters on Cardiff's Cathedral Road saw a staff shuffle in 2017 and a Senior Content Executive came on board.
Joining company Director's Marc Benger and Dave Sayce on ‘Team CMM' are the management team made up of Senior Web Developer Matt Toner, Digital Marketing Manager Jyles Kerr Smith and Sales Manager Stu Burns. Also, working on the digital, content and web efforts at CMM HQ are Jamie Blacker, Rhydian Ball and Katie Cullen.
