5. Archbishop Tenison's C of E High School

Located on Selborne Road, Archbishop Tenison's C of E High School holds up to 800 pupils aged between 11-18 and is a public, voluntary aided secondary school in Croydon. It’s a well-established, 300-year-old Church of England school who, last year, had 34% of A-level results reach a grade B or higher.

70% of its students achieved 5+ GCSEs graded A*-C, which is higher than the national average of 60% making it a fairly respectable result. Ofsted reports have rated the school as a Grade 2 or ‘Good’, rating it highly for its curriculum and student engagement.

4. Cambridge Tutors College

Cambridge Tutors College is an independent secondary school in Croydon, with 112 pupils currently enrolled, aged 14-23. Scholarships are available but the deposit is £1,000 for British students. There are also boarding services available as Cambridge Tutors College enrols pupils from across the EU.

148 of last year’s students achieved A*- B grades in their A-Levels, making up 75% of the pupils' results. Outstanding! Whitgift School is an independent, all-boys secondary school in Croydon, open to pupils aged 10-18. There are currently 1484 pupils enrolled, with boarding school options available. Scholarships and bursaries are offered, but the deposit for day students is £800, whilst the deposit for boarding students is £2,500.

84% of all A-Level grades were awarded at A*-B in 2018, whilst 95% of all GCSE grades were awarded at A*-B. They’re impressive results and deserve the comments made by the ISI who rates the quality of the pupil’s academic achievements and personal development as ‘excellent’.

2. Old Palace of John Whitgift School

Situated on Old Palace Road, Old Palace of John Whitgift School is an independent, all-girls school that currently has 724 students enrolled. It contains both a nursery and a sixth form, open to pupils aged 1-18. It’s a building filled with intriguing history, containing a classroom that was once Queen Elizabeth I’s bedroom. Free Education Workshops are available as well as scholarships and bursaries, but the registration fee is £125.

In 2018, 89% of A-Level results were graded A* - B, whilst 57% of all GCSE results achieved A*- A grades, a truly impressive achievement. The ISI rates a range of the school’s factors as ‘excellent’, including student personal progress.

There are a number of forms and admission tests to be completed before a student can be accepted.

5. Aerodrome Primary Academy

Located on Goodwin Road, Aerodrome Primary Academy currently has 508 students enrolled, all aged between 3-11. It has been awarded a Grade 2, ‘Good’ report by Ofsted with 59% of pupils meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics.

Special classes are available as well as the Children’s Centre which arranges fun activities for families and their children.

4. St. Mary's Catholic Junior School

A great primary school in Croydon, St. Mary's Catholic Junior School has 230 pupils aged 7-11 currently enrolled. 72% of their pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics, which is above the national average of 64%. It has received a Grade 2 ‘Good’ report from Ofsted with 100% of Key Stage 2 pupils achieving the expected standard for grammar, punctuation and spelling.

With 365 pupils aged 7-11, Park Hill Junior School also has a Grade 2 report from Ofsted. 74% of pupils are meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics, beating the national average by 10%.
