Using a removal company is the best way to get through a house move smoothly. Saving money is always a priority and many view house removal costs as an unnecessary extra in what is already an expensive time in their lives. Let us put this to you… It is NOT an unnecessary added cost… Removal costs should automatically be factored into the cost of moving house. It’s a must and here, we will tell you why.

We are always hearing about how disruptive, busy, chaotic and stressful a home move can be but, please, heed our words… It doesn’t have to be. Here's 11 reasons to hire a removal company...

This article will cover the following points

It’s their job! Time is valuable Cheap vs Cost Effective Stress! So. Much. Stuff! Method to the madness Free to Focus elsewhere They will do ev-er-ry-thing! Nothing is left behind Get with the times

It’s their job!

These guys do this stuff for a living. It’s a skill and a profession. If you want it done properly then leave it to the pros.

Time is valuable

Time is the one thing you can’t buy more of. It’s the most valuable thing in the world. If you want to save time then get the movers in to take care of everything so your time will be your own.

Cheap vs Cost Effective

OK so, a removal company isn’t the cheaper option. Recruiting friends and borrowing your Uncle’s van will be cheaper but, listen up... When your butter-fingered friend drops the TV or your heavy-handed buddy rams the dining table into the door-frame countless times, the damage levels increase pretty rapidly….. and so the cost goes up. A removal company is insured so any breakages or accidents that take place will be covered... Then again, those accidents are pretty unlikely if you’re using the experts. So, it may not be cheap but it is cost-effective.

Stress!

Stress is a word you will see repeated a hundred times over in any article about moving house. So much so, in fact, that we at Compare My Move are sick of hearing it, seeing it… and writing it (rolls eyes). Moving House does not… we repeat, does not need to be so notoriously and ridiculously stressful. Normal levels of stress, sure. One of the main reasons people find moving house stressful is because of the immense workload involved... Here’s an idea… why not outsource some or all of that workload to a company trained to do exactly that? Moving house is exciting, it’s a new chapter, an adventure... Don’t let your spirits be horribly dampened by the associated stress.

So. Much. Stuff!

Seriously, look around you. You may think you live a humble existence but behind every cupboard door, there are hoards and hoards of belongings. So many people completely underestimate the sheer volume of items they’ve accumulated over the years… Think about it… This is literally everything you own… That’s a lot of packing, a lot of shifting, a lot to move. Don’t be a hero, get some help!

Method to the madness

At a glance, it may appear that a professional home movers job is to put things in a box and move it from A to B. You think, ‘gee that looks super easy, I can totally do that myself’. You couldn’t be more wrong. So much more goes into a successful home move. There is a way to pack items keeping them safe, secure and protected. The van will be loaded with purpose and with logic. Your movers will consider the order in which to load and to empty the van based on which items will be needed first. They will work as a team and get through the process so much more quickly and smoothly than you can. They also have tips and tricks that make transporting your goods even easier. They can tape up cabinets and drawers with your belongings still in so that not everything gets thrown into a box. It’s serious business and best left to the experts.

Free to Focus elsewhere

There is more to do than simply pack up your belongings and move them. If you leave that to the movers then you are free to take care of everything else. There’s the admin, the address changes, registering at new doctors, the schools, settling the kids in. When you use a removal company from Compare My Move’s partner directory, you can rest assured that they can be left to it while you work on something else.

They will do ev-er-ry-thing!

When you hire a professional removal company, you can take advantage of full or part packing services. If you opt for a full packing service (which you should totally do), then you can sit back and relax because the removal company will pack everything for you. You can leave everything where it is and always has been. It will all be taken care of. You can also have them dismantle and reassemble your furniture as part of the service. It's just so easy. Some companies will even throw in a cleaning service if you so require. Come on… It’s a no-brainer.

Nothing is left behind

Speaking from personal experience (dramatic flashbacks)… there is nothing quite as devastating as realising two weeks after you’ve moved that you left your Christmas Tree and Decorations in your old garage. Heart-breaking times. With a removal company, before the wheel of the removal van turns an inch, they will check that everything is accounted for. They know all the nooks and crannies and all the places that get forgotten about. These guys will get everything.

Get with the times

Times are a changing... It is the norm to hire a professional removal firm when you are moving house now. These services have been put in place because of a demand. Take advantage of it. Use it as it is intended to be used for the love of all that is holy!

A parting note... Statistics would suggest that people in their 20s and early 30s are less likely to use a removal company than those in their late 30s, 40s and above. Now…. Straighten your spectacles, pull your socks up and ask yourself why this might be? Uh, perhaps it’s because those in their late 30s have already tried moving house once before. They did it themselves… and it was a right pain in the backside then. They’ve wised up and they know better than to try it again now!
