40% increase in moving house enquiries in Q1

Enquiries from people needing a conveyancer have increased by 40% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to Q4 2023, data from Compare My Move shows. This hike in demand for moving professionals proves that the UK isn’t put off by current mortgage rates.

People needing a conveyancer for selling and buying at the same time have increased the most, climbing by 67%.

With the average house price falling for the first time in 6 months in March according to Halifax, we only expect to see our moving enquiries increase throughout Q2.

House prices fell by £2,900 to £288,430, remaining 0.3% higher than the previous year. Industry experts predict that mortgage rates will likely fall than rise in the coming months, encouraging more people to buy than rent.
