I accepted a career in Norway from UK and then went to plan my move. That had to be the most stressful part by a mile. I was dumbfounded at the ridiculous quotes I was receiving from company’s.
I heard so many war stories from friends who had been through hell with removal company’s and one even ended up taking them to court!!!
I found Simpsons removals who has by far the best reputation so assumed the worst. I put in for a quote which was already better than most but a little out of my budget which other had sucked up immediately. This however changed when I received a call from Max in Dartford. I discussed what I needed to take etc and he talked me through it before providing a revised quote. My jaw dropped and it felt like a ton of weight lifted from my shoulders.
He gave a solid quote with the promise of zero hidden charges as long as I kept to within my parameters and stayed within their rules and regs re what I can and can not pack without declaration etc. No sales pitch or small talk, just a straight up, “we will pick it up and drop it off door to door”.
So, i received my paperwork to complete, I packed up and they came exactly on time and loaded up with no fuss.
I moved to Norway. Again, along cane the lorry on the agreed date and time and it was unloaded and unpacked....with no fuss......IT REALLY WAS THAT SIMPLE!!!!
I am so so so happy with everything. Max kept me updated throughout and ALWAYS responded within minutes of me emailing, and ALWAYS answered the phone.
I can not give enough praise to Simpsons and Max especially.
I saw a review on here re hidden costs and them making money that way via small print. Sorry but this is rubbish and I expect the same reviewer expects his belongings to be gold plated and delivered via a dove or something daft.
The fact is, Simpsons gave me a stress free experience. My belongings and boxes where in perfect condition and not even a dent.
I highly highly recommend them. My advice is to call them or at least follow up your quote with a call as the online quote is not accurate enough so don’t be put off by that. CALL THEM.

The whole move was brilliant. No stress what so ever. The crew were helpful and professional.
Simpsons were very professional. There were 1 or 2 issues with assembling the desks however other than this, we had a great experience.
Arrived on time. Friendly team. A bit slapdash loading/unloading. Two breakages. Most importantly, truck not big enough to take everything - luckily we were only doing a partial move, otherwise could have been a nightmare.
All good. Whilst I don't expect removals people to be gushing with customer service when they drop your stuff off, something resembling people skills would be good. When you hand over a tip, no matter how big or small, there was a sense of entitlement - just took it off me like I handed them a tissue. Wish I hadn't bothered. All in all, from pick up to drop off, we paid an extra 20 quid. Not enough? I think if I'd have handed over 50 they'd have still pulled a face. When you offer them tea, it's a given that it's provided - of course we're willing to offer drinks, but there's this shoulder shrugging approach. When I offered to assist with places to park, I was told "Don't worry about that, you just get the kettle on eh?" It's little things that make a difference. It doesn't hurt to say to people "All the best with your new home." Just offer something that looks like you care. I get that they are not there to chat all day, but there was nothing from them. Just two grumpy guys, sharp, short answers. I don't give a tip or make tea for the thanks, but it wouldn't hurt, Simpsons. Give your staff a bit of customer service training - they aren't cabin crew for 1st class on the airlines, but seriously, try to at least pretend to care about more than just off-loading and driving off. I don't think it's an easy job, but good manners are.
We had packing service - the guys made most boxes too heavy for us to move, they did not communicate re our clothes which were in chest of drawers and packed them in boxes simply labelled bedroom - not helpful as packed all underwear for the next day. The guys on moving day worked hard but had arrived late due to heavy traffic. The customer service from the assessor, ladies in office and guys on moving day were good but when there was a problem the senior member of staff was patronising and calls were not returned which held up leaving the house and subsequent journey- complaint has not been followed up in the 15 days I was told. Would not recommend.
The actual movers were fabulous, but the office staff were terrible. Changing dates after deposit paid and again after balance paid, not commmunicating information between themselves, didn’t organize the cleaning, increase price after finding out employer was paying, making impossible offers in terms of dates from the outset. We were not even convinced they were going to turn up on the moving day. The guys who actually came though were fabulous and gave us total confidence one we met them. Shame they were not supported by their office team.
Simpsons moved a small fridge for us. When I went to plug it in the cable was missing. I queried Simpsons head office.to see if the cable was left on the lorry - it wasn’t. I looked through other boxes and found the cable stuffed in a box, looks like it was run over by the trolley and ripped off. I tried to re-attach, but fuses in the house blew, so I had to unplug. I contacted Simpsons who passed my complaint to their insurance department - after I resent the email twice. Still waiting for any contact from the insurance department. Not impressed and wouldn’t recommend them.
The communication was outstanding before my move. Once I have decided to move with them it has gone quiet. The day my belongings were packed went smoothly and friendly. That was Aug 29. today is Sept 11. I have not received my belonging yet and I have not received an estimated day as of when they think thy might deliver. Communication is sparse. I email every other day to find out when my things will possibly arrive and I feel about fobbed off because I keep getting the same reply- we are working on it. I have paid £2300 and so far I’m not really happy.,
First part of the service, before anything was moved, was great. Moving day, not so great. Moving men in such a hurry that everything was almost thrown into the new property. Cupboard broken through negligence. Reported this to Simpsons and they referred me to their insurance company. Upshot is that I now have to pay a £50 excess to have the cupboard fixed that Simpsons broke through carelessness. Do not use this company if you care at all what happens to your furniture. I will be posting similar reviews for all potential customers to see. This is the worst moving experience I have ever had.
The Initial quote was very competitive but we ended up paying double. They did everything well prior to the move but the day of the move was a nightmare and they are the last people I would ever recommend to anyone, very difficult people to work with. They misquote you and then charge you loads of money. I was not happy with them and I hear they do that a lot to their customers. Having said that their moving team was really good. They are very hard working guys.
Having explained our position and verbally agreeing a delivery date they did not deliver until 2 weeks after that. They knew we would be waiting in Spain for our delivery and we had to seek alternative accommodation for 2 weeks whilst we waited the arrival of our furniture. When it arrived one of the chairs was broken due to a jet ski falling over on the lorry, and a bed castor was missing. They have made no contact with us offering any compensation or apology. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
I have not got my stuff back yet, not even a date. It is likely to be a 2.5 month delay. Customer service very poor.
Appalling experience. We had booked and pre-paid for a full packing and unpacking service.
On the day of the unpacking service, a member of their crew was off sick and they couldn't deliver the service. We were very understanding but said we wanted to cancel the unpacking and get a refund for that service. They never replied!
I wrote repeated emails that went ignored and the refund never took place.
The move itself was not too bad (nothing lost or broken) even though too rushed and many items were placed in the wrong place in the new accommodation.
However, being for a service they couldn't deliver and ignoring their obligation to refund or at least communicate with their client is simply disgraceful.
Simpsons were over two weeks late delivering our consignment to Spain having been paid fully in advance. It caused us incredible stress and money as there was no information as to why the delay. I would never recommend Simpsons to anyone.
Left extremely disappointed and fraustrated after using Simpsons. The estimator had been round and stated we needed a lorry for 1500 cubic meters. On the day a 2200 cubic meter lorry was sent and we basically had 2500 cubic meters of stuff so we ending up having to leave lots of our stuff we our old neighbour of which we are still continuing to pick up. We packed up on the day quickly but there was a delay at the new property with the people moving out the removal men then had the hump as they wanted to get finish so they could go to the the pub! They were working to finishing time of 5pm yet the website stated 6pm. Meaning us and family friends were rushing to help them finish by 5 even though they lied and the time was 6pm. Worst of all they damaged and destoryed our dining room table as they lifted up onto other stuff as there wasn’t enough room on the lorry due to the poor estimation. Best part is despite the code of conduct for removal companies they won’t repair or replace our table. We would whole heartedly recommend you go elsewhere. We would never use them again!!
This company is not professional. The prices are waited on lowest what and they will charge you extras. Read carefully their contract. If you have furniture which you love do not use them. People who come to collect my furniture didn't know what they are doing. They are subcontracted for the day work. Staff in the company is awfully rude once tgey taken deposit of 50%. Any other company I really think will know how to trat you as a customer. I wasnt there in Spain when my furniture was delivered due to my work commitment i just pray to God nothing is damaged. Do not use them this is all i can say.
I have had a terrible experience with this company. Please do not ever recommend them. As the say goes " the devil is in the detail", and this is how this company operates. Their original offer looks very competitive, but then misteriously they start adding new concepts based on the small letter and their final price is more expensive than anyone else. In my case, they want to charge me 50% because their truck does not fit in my street. At the time of the offer I did not obviously check this, since I naively thought that they would have cheked this. They have only checked this information now when it is the delivery time and they harge me 50% more. Funnily enough, their truck is so big that they would have never been able to deliver in any part of the city. They do not offer any refund for alternative deliveries in depot outside the town. it is a rip-off and very un-professional.
They made a huge mistake in assessing the volume of goods to transport resulting in an extra van being required. They wanted £600 extra to deliver my contents. Disgusted with them charging me for their mistake. They under estimated by 30% ! They blamed me for their mistake and then made me wait a week for delivery of urgently required items.
