We looked into the moving process in Suffolk to bring you everything you need to know. We found that the average property price in the area is £435,048, with an average rent of £1,053 pcm.
Friday is the most popular day for moving house and August is the favourite time of year. We calculated that the average cost of moving is £595 based on the average for a 3-bedroom house move.
We found that the average cost of a removal firm in Suffolk is £595. According to our research and data, there are not the vast differences between cost bracketts like we’ve seen in other parts of the country. The highest you can expect to pay for a residential removal firm in the area is around £685, and the lowest is at £478.33
Removal firms base their costs on a variety of factors including the size of the home, the number of items being moved and the distance between your new and old property. The day of the week you move can also influence the price, with popular days such as Friday being more expensive and unpopular moving days, like Sunday, costing less.
The overall cost of hiring a removal company will also depend on whether or not you use additional services, such as professional packing, furniture assembly or storage options.
Our research found that the most popular time of year to move house in Suffolk is during August.
During the height of summer, August offers longer and warmer days, making for a more pleasant move. It is also when the summer holidays fall, making it an ideal time for families with children, those working in education or students to move.
The month with the least amount of moves in Suffolk is May, accounting for just over 5% of moves, followed by April with 6% of moves. This could be down to a number of factors, including school terms and uncertain spring weather. That said, ultimately your moving day will largely depend on the completion day for your property transaction.
In line with the majority of the UK, movers in Suffolk favoured moving on a Friday, with over 28% of moves taking place on the gateway to the weekend.
Moving house on a Friday means minimal disruption to work and also to school if you are moving house with children. It also means having the whole weekend to fully unpack, buy essentials and get to know your new area.
In contrast, the least popular day to move house in Suffolk is on a Sunday with just over 3.5% of moves taking place on the last day of the weekend. We have found this is the case across most of the UK, for a variety of reasons. For one, it can mean less time to unpack and settle in if you have work the following day.
Additionally, many solicitor offices estate agents close on a Sunday, meaning if there is a problem with the home when you move in it may not be addressed right away.
