Glastonbury Festival is notoriously hard to get tickets for due to its popularity, it is estimated that 2.5 million people attempt to get tickets to the iconic music festival each year. However, only 200,000 are successful, leaving 2.3 million people each year disappointed.
If you don’t want to be a member of the disappointed 2.3 million, then there is a way you can get Glastonbury tickets every year guaranteed. Buy a house in the Glastonbury Festival catchment zone. This seems a little extreme, but Compare My Move has worked out the cheapest place to buy a house in 2024 while being eligible for the local priority tickets.
How to Get Priority Glastonbury Tickets Every Year
The Glastonbury Festival is arguably the most famous festival in the world, and when 200,000 people visit the town of Glastonbury which has a population of 8,297 it completely takes over. It’s no wonder Michael Eavis, the founder of Glastonbury Festival puts aside tickets specifically to be sold to the local areas, by giving them multiple chances to purchase Glastonbury tickets outside of the general sale.
The areas in which you can get access to local sales are split into two zones, the inner zone and the outer zone. The inner zone is that which is closest to the festival and the outer zone is areas surrounding Glastonbury Festival that will still be affected but aren’t as adjective as the inner zone.
For the 2024 festival, the inner zone had their specific tickets go on sale at 9 am on Sunday 26th November 2022, the outer zone can then join the sale at 10 am. These tickets are limited - so that extra hour could be the difference between going to the festival or not.

In 2024, the area in which it would be cheapest to buy a house and get priority tickets to Glastonbury Festival is Alford, with an average house price of £233,047 it comes in as almost half the average price of all areas that come under the local ticket catchment area. The small village sits in the outer zone and therefore residents of the village can join the Glastonbury local ticket sale at 10 am during the local sale, an hour behind the inner zone.
If you’d rather not wait until 10 am to secure your local tickets, then a property in the inner zone won’t cost you much more. The second cheapest place on our list is Shepton Mallet, and it falls in the inner zone with an average house price of just over £250,000. The town of Shepton Mallet is bigger than the cheapest area of Alford, therefore although the average house price in Alford was cheaper over the last year - it would likely be easier to find a property in Shepton Mallet.
The actual town of Glastonbury comes in at third on the list. Needless to say, the festival's namesake is in the inner zone of the Glastonbury Festival so you will be able to get your local ticket at 9 am. The average house price in Glastonbury is also nearly £194,000 cheaper than the average house price in the inner and outer zones.
In 2023, Lovington was the area in which it was cheapest to buy a house with the average house price being £275,000. However, this price has now risen £140,000 and the average house price in Lovington over the past 12 months is now £415,000. Because of this, Lovington has lost its top spot as the place to move for priority Glastonbury tickets and has moved down to 14th.
