We Are Committed to GDPR

At Compare My Move, we are committed to respecting your data and privacy at all times. Respect and transparency are key aspects of our company aim to provide a range of trusted services to our users.

We've taken steps to be fully compliant with the recent GDPR changes, and here we explain exactly what this means for you, our users.

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU regulation on privacy and data protection which came into force 25th May 2018. It applies to organisations in the EU that process personal data, and obliges companies to adopt the current best practice when handling your personal data.

It mandates better data management for companies, adds rights for users to access information held about them by organisations, and introduces heftier fines for breaches of the regulation. It's enforced by the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

The Steps We've Taken to be GDPR Compliant

GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act in the UK, an act which we were fully compliant with. Our strong existing data protection framework meant that becoming fully GDPR compliant was a simple step for Compare My Move.

We take data protection seriously, and welcome the measures introduced by GDPR.

Here are the steps we've taken to become GDPR compliant:

  • Updated our Privacy Policy to ensure absolute transparency.
  • Performed a full review of our content and marketing to ensure legitimate interest.
  • Confirmed our legal basis for processing all personal data we may use in our services.
  • Introduced a clear process for handling data complaints.
  • Updated our data breach protocol.
  • Reviewed employee access to data and increased internal controls.
  • Rewritten out Data Protection Policy.
  • Updated our terms of working with third party companies to ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Consulted a solicitor to advise on our approach to GDPR, as the regulation is so broad and new.
