I found Stephen on the off chance through compare my move. I had been quoted 625 by one surveyor for a level 2 RICS home buyers survey, and 825 by another recommended by estate agents, and 750 by another. I was shocked and amazed not only by the expense, but the lack of consistency for the same report ? Why is this price not standardised ? Its unfair, and is clearly a way to cash in on the expenses associated with moving home. Stephens price for the report was fair, he turned up at the property we intended to buy. He liaised with the estate agent. He took photographs, produced a very detailed report, which allowed me to ask educated questions. He spent time going through the report with me, and we had a good conversation about the positives and potential future costs that could be incurred if I bought the property. The report used the Red, Amber and green system which made it clear to identify all areas of the property report. For the price paid for the report, less than 500, Stephen produced a detailed report, spent time discussing the report and made himself available for future contact if any more questions arose .
